Welcome
This site is the home of Chipping Norton Silver Band. Established in 1935 by a group of young men who had left the Salvation Army, the band was first known as the Chipping Norton Temperence Band who played for hire of the practice hall by playing at open air chapel meetings. During World War II all of the young men were called up for military service and the band was suspended.
After the war all of the men, bar one, arrived home safely and the band was re-established with the current name. In the years since then, the band has entered competitions and won many prizes, and although presently not at full strength in numbers, the band supports many town and local village events and remains a strong part of the community.
These days you can find us rehearsing every week in the Fox Hotel, a popular pub in the centre of Chipping Norton. If you’re a musician and interested in joining us, please use see our contact page. All abilities are most welcome!
